Akumal, which is in the Yucatan's Riviera Maya on the Caribbean coastline, is just a 90 minute drive south from the Cancun airport. Light years away from the crowds and fast pace of the city.
Each morning you are awakened by natures alarm clock — the melodious singing of tropical birds and the soft lapping waves along the beach. Nothing may be more rewarding than sipping a morning cup of Campache coffee while watching the sunrise from your spacious beachside terrace or balcony.
Our snorkeling is written up by many publications. The barrier reef along this coast, which protects Half Moon Bay, is rated as one of the seven underwater wonders of the world. From Half Moon Bay, the water is often so clear that sea life, such as turtles, can be seen from the building without even entering the water.
Within walking distance of the condos is the famous Yalku Lagoon, which is often equated to swimming in an aquarium. Also, there are many wonderful small restaurants tucked around the Bay for your enjoyment. The common phrase here is "No shoes required!"
The Akumal area is both rustic and somewhat remote, with thatched roofed restaurants, bars, dive shops and gift shops. The arts are a focus as well, both local and international. The area offers a doctor, pharmacy, markets, library, ecological center, arts center, outdoor stage, laundry drop-off and more.
